Looks like it was Christmas in April this weekend as Santa Claus dropped a load of teasers and trailers! There was also some awards show and some sad news from Mystic Falls…

• Season 6 of GAME OF THRONES promises to be a roller coaster based on its new trailer. So much is happening with so many, it’s hard to figure out which characters we didn’t see. But I’m pretty sure there was no cameo by Jon Snow?? Guess we’ll know when it premieres April 24…

• We got a glimpse of J.K. Rowling’s best-selling HARRY POTTER prequel, FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM, too, and it looks … well, fantastic. With David Yates (who directed four HARRY POTTER flicks) at the helm and powerhouse actors like Eddie Redmayne, Colin Farrell, Ezra Miller, Ron Perlman, Samantha Morton, and Jon Voight on board, this has so much potential! Check out the fantastical world of 1920s New York!

Megan Fox is pouty and foxy in the new trailer for TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES: OUT OF THE SHADOWS. And the boys are faced with a dilemma: If they have the option to change from turtle to human, would they? Should they? Existentialism with a shell! I’ll take it!

• Amid rumors of reshoots (that were put into action because of the collective shrug with which BATMAN VS SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE was received), Warner Bros. and DC released another SUICIDE SQUAD trailer. And it. Is. OUTRAGEOUS. The cast has something for everyone: Oscar winners Ben Affleck and Jared Leto; nominees Viola Davis and Will Smith; eye candy like Margot Robbie and Cara Delevingne; guy candy like Jay Hernandez and Scott Eastwood; and reliable solids like Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje. Of course writer-director David Ayer is no slouch either (having blessed us with END OF WATCH and TRAINING DAY). Not to mention that glorious source material. Being bad has never looked like so much fun!

• Of course, these trailers debuted during a little thing called the MTV Movie Awards where, in between ads, some golden popcorn was actually presented with some of our faves triumphing:

• Movie of the Year went to STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS, topping JURASSIC WORLD, DEADPOOL, and AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON.

Furiosa

• Ridley, did, however, win the Breakthrough Performance award, trumping her costar John Boyega.

• DEADPOOL’s Ryan Reynolds snagged the Best Comedic Performance title.

• The End is Nigh: Ian Somerhalder spilled some VAMPIRE DIARIES beans at Walker Stalker Con in Nashville yesterday, saying: “We have decided to do one last season to really do the story justice.” It was a little bit of a surprise when the CW renewed the vampire soap for Season 8 (honestly, it was more surprising when it was renewed for Season 7, which is currently airing, after the departure of Nina Dobrev, the titular diarist) so this isn’t a complete surprise. Especially after last week’s news that another original cast member, Kat Graham, was leaving after Season 8. Sometimes it’s just time… Here’s hoping Dobrev returns to wrap things up!
